Shop Renamed In Torre Del Mar!

Discover items from seven to seven hundred euros at Lukuma, previously known as Papaya…! These young, multi-cultural entrepreneurs in Torre del Mar, aim to provide a wide range of goods – fashion clothing, jewellery and accessories – at attractive prices for clientèle who are on the look-out for something a bit different.

What makes you different?
Well, since we started five years ago with our shop on the Paseo de Larios, and Ellie almost ten years ago in Pink Flamenco, Nerja, we’ve always focused on exclusive items at prices that won’t break the bank. In other words, whatever your budget, you’ll find original products at a reasonable price. For example, we sell Spanish and French fashion goods, which are a bit different from those available in large retail chains.

How’s business in Lukuma?
We can’t complain. There are customers in the Torre del Mar region with excellent taste and dress sense. We also benefit from tourism and as business continues well into the evening, and the nightlife on the Paseo de Larios is lively, we stay open to around midnight.

Besides working with brands, you have created your own signature in jewellery, Ñusta Beads. Is it not risky in these times?
Yes it is, but we’re confident that our customers love Ñusta. Our strength is the quality and our prices, which are lower than other charms, beads and bracelets. We have many sales outlets such as franchises throughout the Costa del Sol.

Music is important in your shop. Why?
Music creates a pleasant ambiance and provides good energy. On the Paseo Larios in Torre del Mar, Lukuma is part of a leisure environment with nearby cafés, bars, chill out terraces, ice cream parlours, bars, pubs and restaurants. In fact you can spend the whole day here. So yes, music is very important to the Lukuma image.

Are your prices affordable?
Of course! We have articles and accessories for any budget, from a bracelet of 5€ up to bracelets for 500€. Our more affluent customers are also looking for casual clothes, shoes and jewelry, so reasonable prices do not mean that quality suffers. We also realise that although our strong sales period is in the summer, our most faithful customers are local residents.

What are the new trends?
We’ve imported silver from Turkey, fashion bracelets and sarongs from Bali and bags and clothes from France. Our aim is to tap into products from various countries, so we travel frequently to keep abreast of the latest trends. That is the great pleasure of working in the fashion industry and if you visit Lukuma you’ll have always a new experience.
